The responsible person for Wigton Windfarm LTD's involvement with O2O WIND is Rohan Hay, operations manager.
Wigton Windfarm Limited was established in 2000 and operates a 62.7MW wind energy facility, which consists of forty-four (44) wind turbines in Jamaica, West Indies.
The wind farm consists of three phases: Wigton Phase I, a 20.7MW plant, consisting of twenty-three (23) Neg-Micon (NM52) 900kWh wind turbines, Phase II, an 18MW plant, consisting of nine (9) Vestas V80 2MW wind turbines and Phase III, a 24MW plant, consisting of twelve (12)´Gamesa G80 2MW wind turbines.
As good industry practice dictates, Wigton, at all times, adheres to the preventative maintenance schedules recommended by the original turbine manufacturers. Our intent is to optimize life cycle costs and energy yield by maintaining a high level of availability whilst, at the same time, continuing to impact positively on Jamaica’s economy and environment by providing energy from a cleaner and more affordable alternative to imported fossil fuels.
Our ambition for O2O
Wigton believes that information exchange will help improve O&M strategies. The intent is to benchmark best practices in order to optimize the performance of our assets. We look forward to joining this peer-to- peer platform.
