Our O&M Strategy

Akuo’s wind farms are still young, with the oldest ones barely exceeding the 10 year milestone. Also, as part of our project financing strategy, a full scope O&M contract is typically required by the lenders and/or the shareholders to keep a reasonable risk profile. As such, most of our turbines are maintained by the OEM under the initial O&M contract. Despite that, one of our long-term objectives is to be able to select and implement the optimal O&M strategy once these initial constraints are lifted. We have therefore taken over the maintenance of three wind farms in France where we work hand in hand with ISPs to provide the best possible service to our turbines, in order to gain knowledge and experience in this specific area and become less dependent on the OEMs.

Sharing is one of Akuo’s core values. It was therefore natural to join the O2O Wind platform to connect with other owners around the globe facing similar issues as we do. We believe that these exchanges will help us all improve the way we work and optimize our assets.

Our O&M Strategy

We try to keep know-how in house and in the same time to have a good relation with turbine manufacturer for improvement of efficiency and performance of the turbines. We are in the process of defining a long term O&M Strategy. We started to communicate more often with parts manufacturers to have a different opinion on root cause analysis.

We operate our wind farm for more than 4 years now and we believe that we can share many of ours experiences, but also we need to learn more about the new and challenging ones.

Our O&M Strategy

Long term strategy suggests having a secured level of steady energy production over the long-term full service agreement based on mutually-benefited relationship with Vestas. Mid-term O&M strategy aims to develop internal expertise in scheduled maintenance and out of scope additional services i) to decrease maintenance costs at the group of companies level; ii) to assure an internal baseline maintenance of the wind farm fleet in case of force-major events affecting the full service agreement occur.

Our objective for o2owind International

We believe that our experience in implementing of wind projects is quite unique and it can be useful for other members of 020 Wind. On the other hand having access to collective experience is a great value that permits using and spreading the best industry practices on our emerging market.

 

As for now we have decided that we will pick up the habit of sending invoices as soon as they have defeated Putin

 Current challenges that I want to solve

Presently my main challenges is extend the scope of predictive analysis in Wind industry at same level as developed in other technologies, i.e.  not only aimed to prevent failures, but mainly to reduce maintenance activities  of turbines by increasing life of single components.

Energia’s main goal is to maintain a high level of availability from our assets which in turns increases the overall energy yield. This involves a close relationship with the various OEM’s to ensure a preventative approach to service and troubleshooting is achieved rather than a corrective approach which in turn leads to greater turbine downtime and subsequently a higher level of faults.

Our O&M Strategy

Enerjisa Üretim is one of the leading Energy Generation Corporate in Turkey operating a diversified portfolio. Due to the increasing installed capacity with the latest mega project of 1 GW package get on board, it became a breakeven level for us to convert our operations more in house basis. Depending on the several conditions of our different portfolio, we are applying different O&M Strategies varied from full OEM coverage to the mixed responsibilities. It is a transient period for us to convert our models into more agile structure and grasp the assets we own with a more focused approach.

While on the transition period for the O&M Models we apply and being in an aggressive growth phase, we believe in the importance of the benchmarking and information sharing among the same stakeholders who had been phased with the same conditions in their history already. Statoil see the need to mature the service delivery within O&M. Our experience with wind started in 2001 and we have identified substantial improvement opportunities. O&M strategy

With the sun gone from mid-November to mid-February, -25 Celsius and with speeds often greater than 50 m/s we have adapted a steep learning curve. From the outside our 15 Nordex N80 at Havøygavlen looks the same but the technology inside has been radically altered. In 2004 our availability was at 72% but now we are above 95%.

Ambitions with O2O WIND

Sharing with knowledgeable friend in the industry is a rarity for us above the polar circle but we hope that will change with O2O WIND. With finance just being secured for our latest investment I know that the next months will be busy. Although I do believe that we have a lot of extreme experiences and interesting solutions to share and I have also discovered that many of our toughest issues are very similar to the issues fought by owners in more normal conditions.

Our O&M Strategy

Our strategy as a new turbine operator, in a market where we see huge technical risks, has been to sign up for long term service agreements with Energy Based Availability where OEMs take on risk. This has given us a low foreseeable costs and right focus on the production. Our top priority is of course HSE, but we focus on managing our agreements, analyzing operational and performance data to push KPIs in right direction. This helps us bringing down LCoE and lost production.

As good industry practice dictates, Wigton, at all times, adheres to the preventative maintenance schedules recommended by the original turbine manufacturers. Our intent is to optimize life cycle costs and energy yield by maintaining a high level of availability whilst, at the same time, continuing to impact positively on Jamaica’s economy and environment by providing energy from a cleaner and more affordable alternative to imported fossil fuels.
