Sharing Main Components Failure Rates

An efficient meeting among senior engineers led to the creation of a scalable, fully automatable template for sharing main component failure rates, using only data already collected. With a predefined component list and key failure details, companies will submit their data in mid-April, and by the end of the month, all data will be compiled into a single file, with plans to expand participation once the template proves valuable.

This was a very efficient meeting held among relaxed senior engineers.

It turned out that the first engineer had already prepared, and soon he had shared his entire setup of what to be shared in the meeting chat:

- Commissioning Date
- Failure Date
- Turbine OEM
- Turbine Model
- Component OEM
- Component Model
- Origin
- Failure Details.
- Turbine location
- Serial Number

The second engineer narrowed our selection of main components to be included:

- Main bearing
- Gearbox
- Generator
- Blades

We started a screen sharing session in the meeting and created a template for Sharing the Main Components Failure Rates.

In mid April, the participating companies will send me their data. In the second half of April, we will compile all data into one file.

When we feel that we have a good template and that shared data is valuable, we will start including more wind turbine owners.
