The Top Directors' Forum

Where the most advanced wind-asset owners align on the operational future of the industry.Gruop with Evren (2)

Every year, a small group of top directors responsible for some of the world’s largest wind portfolios gather to compare experiences, challenge assumptions, and quietly shape the next generation of in-house operational strategies. Founded at Enel's HQ in Rome in June 2023, we have seen a very valuable development, as expressed by Iberdrola, Enel. Naturgy and RWE.

Participation is by invitation only and limited exclusively to companies that have already taken concrete steps toward developing in-house concepts. This keeps the forum focused, pragmatic, and decades ahead of the mainstream. It is not a place for companies considering such developments — it is where companies that have already begun building the next layer of capability come together.

What happens in this room cannot be replicated elsewhere:
Directors openly share what has actually worked, where they have failed, and what they are planning next — insights that cannot be found in conferences, OEM meetings, or consultancy reports. With no suppliers present, no commercial interests, and no marketing agendas, the discussions remain uniquely honest and operationally precise.

The Top Directors' Forum was initiated when José Alba, Global Head of O&M at Enel Green Power, asked us why we always gather their technical people and not the top directors. Shortly after, the Top Directors' Forum was launched at Enel's Villa Lazzaroni facility in Rome in June 2023. The Forum has aligned on several high-impact areas that will define competitiveness in the coming decade, including (but not limited to):

  • Operational independence: strategies for gaining deeper technical access, data transparency, and real control of assets.

  • Internal competence models: how top owners build, retain, and scale technical competence in a multi-OEM fleet.

  • Major component risk: new ways to predict, source, exchange, and mitigate failures long before they hit the balance sheet.

  • AI & digitalisation: practical applications that improve availability and reduce downtime — not visions, but real deployments.

  • Supply-chain resilience: how owners create leverage in a constrained global supply chain.

  • Hybridisation & future technologies: integrating storage, PV, and new turbine generations into a unified operating model.

Only a handful of companies in the world currently operate at this level — and they stand to gain a decisive long-term advantage.

If your organisation has already started developing in-house concepts and you recognise that peer-to-peer alignment at the director level is becoming a necessity rather than a luxury, then this forum may be the single most valuable table to be seated at.
