Collaboration Proposal: Approaching the ISPs

Objective: We seek to create a comprehensive portal that supports collaboration between independent service providers (ISPs) and wind asset owners in the global wind industry. We want to enable the ISPs to give competitive bids and remove thresholds for the ISPs to have more competition in the wind service market.

Background: Energy companies are increasingly exploring options to outsource the operation and maintenance of their wind turbines to independent service providers. This portal aims to address the challenges of this transition and enhance collaboration between stakeholders.

Portal Features:

  1. Enhanced Business Opportunities: The portal will allow energy companies to merge portfolios and offer more competitive business cases to ISPs. By collaborating with other wind asset owners, they can collectively approach ISPs for servicing a more significant number of wind farms, fostering a competitive market.
  2. Shared Documentation and Manuals: The portal will host a repository of documentation and manuals necessary for the wind farm operation. Collaborative efforts will be made to produce and share these resources with ISPs.
  3. Search functionality: A core functionality of the portal will be to match common interests between wind asset owners and ISPs, enabling effective collaboration. This will mainly be based on location, turbine model/platform, and service level.
  4. WTG Owner's Interface: Wind asset owners can filter and search for potential matches based on country/region, turbine model/platform, and service level preferences.
  5. Onboarding Process: New WTG owners and ISPs can join the platform by registering and providing the necessary information. This process will ensure quality data and relevant collaborations.
  6. Views for Non-Onboarded Entities: For WTG owners and ISPs not yet onboarded, views will offer insights into general key figures and a description of the collaboration.
  7. Implementation: The needed functionalities are already supported in the O2O WIND app and can be built relatively quickly, ensuring a user-friendly interface and seamless navigation.

Benefits:

  • Efficient Collaboration: Streamlined communication between energy companies and ISPs.
  • Enhanced Profitability: Making the service market more transparent and competitive through collaboration.
  • Access to Resources: Shared documentation and manuals enable more players to enter the market.
  • Global Reach: Connecting stakeholders from various geographic regions.
  • Cost-Efficiency: Reduced duplication of resources and services.

Wind asset owners’ input

Here we have two templates:

Template 1 - Potential interest in hiring an ISP

Below is a template to tell your peers which wind farms your company has a potential interest in hiring an ISP.

With this template, you are telling us for which wind farms there is a potential interest to hire an ISP. The most straightforward approach is to paste your wind farm portfolio in columns B to K and then go wind farm by wind farm to specify for which service levels you are interested in hiring an ISP in columns L to P.

Please note that an expressed interest in hiring an ISP does not bind you in any way. What can happen is that another owner who wants to take action on this might contact you to ask if your interest is valid and if you wish to be included in approaching listed ISPs. This potential interest can only be viewed by other wind asset owners being part of this collaboration.

The template is found at this link.

Template 2 - help us to list ISPs
Please share your information about ISPs. It can be about those you have been working with for years or only heard of. We intend to contact each ISP and give them an account on the portal where they can update correct information about service stations, which service levels they can offer, etc.

The template is found at this link.

Independent Service Providers’ input

We will send this template to the ISPs listed in "Template 2 - help us to list ISPs" above. You are not expected to fill in this template; the ISP will do. Sharing this is just to create a better understanding.

The Excel template for Independent Service Providers' input is found at this link.

Wind asset owners’ view

The wind asset owner can see the wind farms for which various energy companies have a potential interest in hiring an ISP. The wind asset owner can filter that view on turbine technology, country, and energy companies. The wind asset owner can view which ISPs match that search.

Keeping this information central, it can be continuously updated with new wind asset owners and ISPs joining.

Attract more wind asset owners and ISPs

The value of this collaboration is directly linked to the number of wind asset owners and ISPs included. As part of this initiative, we suggest investing in mapping ISP beyond what the wind asset owners share and actively engaging them to make it more valuable from the start.
