Buying a Computerised Maintenance Management System

Event date: 30th of May 2022. The application deadline expires this weekend

One of our members wants to buy and integrate a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to facilitate and improve their wind farm operations. They have a portfolio with several different energy sources and operate wind turbines in several countries.

They have come quite far in their mapping of various systems and the various challenges included. They contacted O2O WIND and would like us to gather wind asset owners who have similar concerns in a roundtable session. That would then include wind asset owners who are about to do this investment or wind asset owners who have done this investment and wants to fine-tune this integration.

Text from the O2O WIND member who is about to do this investment:

The use of a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) is highly important to facilitate the process of maintenance operations. It will help us to follow workflows and to track inventory. In addition, maintenance-related information is crucial in order to improve the performance of the service team and optimise wind turbine performance. The need for a CMMS becomes even more apparent for companies managing a portfolio of wind farms with different Service Providers because the maintenance-related information will be spread over different systems.

The need for a CMMS that integrates the maintenance systems used by different Service Providers is therefore clear. However, in order to extract maximum value from a CMMS, it is essential that the Service Providers provide service related information in a format that can be automatically read into the CMMS, and that the provided information has the needed level of detail. We have discovered that there are though difficulties in getting the needed information from the Service Providers and being able to integrate the management systems used by the Service Providers with available CMMS.

Example of questions to be discussed:

  • What do we want to achieve with the CMMS?
  • How to succeed in integrating the Service Provider’s management systems into our CMMS?
  • Using a CMMS provided by externals or developed a system in-house?
  • Main issues when setting up the CMMS?
  • Most interesting CMMS that has been tested/considered?
  • How to compare various CMMS?
  • Main learnings from procuring and integrating CMMS?

Format for this roundtable session - max 7 participants

To create intensive discussions we will only include 7 wind asset owners, one participant per company.

You are expected to have knowledge on this topic, you are expected to actively participate and you are expected to produce a presentation that describes the current status, which challenges you see and which challenges you have solved - implementing CMMS a CMMS in their operations.

Apply to participate - The application deadline expires this weekend:

The meeting will be held online. There are no fees involved for participants. A well-written application will be your ticket to participate in this round table session. Please note only professionals employed by an energy company owning wind farms can apply. We will let you know if your company will be included in this roundtable session. You will then have 10 days to prepare. Please keep the date and time, mentioned above, blocked in your calendar.
